Understanding the Indiana State laws with regard to alcohol can be confusing. We've taken the confusion and stress out of the process.
Here are the basics about how alcohol works for your wedding at Twin Lakes
Q: Can I purchase hard alcohol, liquor or spirits and serve them at my reception?
A: No Way! Thats illegal. Anyone caught serving these beverages or consuming them among the reception guests will be asked to leave the premises. This can jeopardize our business and cause legal liability to the bridal couple.
(If you want hard alcohol, liquor or spirits see the next question)
Q: Can I hire a caterer to serve hard alcohol, liquor or spirits at my reception?
A: The only way you can have these beverages served at your reception is by hiring a caterer who carries a 3-Way License issued by the State of Indiana. This vendor MUST purchase, supply, serve, and handle the liquor and spirits. You are not allowed to supply your own and have a bartender friend serve it. The only possible way is to hire a caterer with a 3-Way license. That caterer is also responsible for disposing of any open bottle at the end of the evening.
Q: Can I purchase and supply beer, wine, champagne or wine alternatives?
A: Yes, you are allowed to purchase and supply these beverages. However, you must first purchase our bar service to do this. We will assist in obtaining the state permit for you to have these beverages at your reception, arrange the bartender and supply the bar set-up. (see below)
Q: Can I hire a caterer to serve beer and wine?
A: Yes, as long as the caterer has a 2-Way or 3-Way license, they can purchase, supply, serve and handle beer and wine. This is also the only available option if you want to have kegs on tap.
